General Information
The Student Support Services Division was organized in the
summer of 1979. The concept
evolved from the need for maximum utilization of similar college
resources. The goal is, and continues to be, to improve the efficiency
and effectiveness of offices similar in scope and nature. The mission of the Student Support Services Division is to
facilitate the students’ educational experience at Fullerton College,
ensure that students are informed, guided, and provided with all viable
alternatives in a timely manner, so they can obtain their ultimate goal.
Staff guide students to realistic objectives and provide the
necessary support for students to succeed at the level of their choice.
A caring, humanistic philosophy is practiced by all staff and it
is the hub of the Student Services Division. The Student Support Services Division is an example of
Fullerton College’s response to a diverse student population. Local and statewide data confirm that the composition of
community college students is changing along with their respective
needs. Also, studies have
concluded that certain student support services (e.g., financial aid, peer
counseling, student government, and special need accommodations) have
made significant contributions to the educational success of community
college students who take advantage of such services.
The type of services provided through this division is one answer
in meeting diverse needs. I
encourage you, the student, to take advantage of the student services if indeed you are at the pivotal “crossroad”
and “wondering which way to go.” The Division motto is
“We Care” and I am
certain once you visit any or all of the departments, you will agree
with me that we do have a “caring” staff.
